Bringing Your Kitten Home

Please take a look at this helpful guide to what you'll need when bringing your kitten home! This guide is tailored specifically to our kittens. It includes a Necessities Checklist, info on Pet Insurance, Food & Supplies and helpful links on caring for your kitten after you bring them home.

Kittens do like to be with their person so sleeping in the room/bed with you initially should be the plan. When they mature their independence will vary. They may sleep in the next room, at the foot of your bed or snuggled up to you.

Necessities Checklist

Proof of Insurance is required to take a kitten home. I offer a code for TruPanion that covers them from Day 1 or you can search for others, though they may have a waiting period. I suggest coverage for at least 6 months but ultimately it’s up to you, the owner, past the introduction period. Please review your contract. Incidental acute illness or accident is not covered. Kittens can get an Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) or upset tummies during a stressful transition. It's impossible to predict how they will handle it as kittens are individuals. Best to be prepared!

New kittens owners are all tempted to shop for their new furbaby. The following is a brief list of necessities to make sure are in place before bringing your kitten home:

• Food - Kibble, Canned and/or Raw

• Litter box

• Kitty litter

• Food bowl

• Water bowl

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE!!!

Due to a continued rise in Avian Flu (H5N1) our Cattery will immediately suspend feeding of all raw meat to our cats. We urge you to do the same! Confirmed cases of cats contracting the virus have been fatal and include neurological symptoms & seizures. As California is the current epicenter of the virus, we will revert to a high quality grain free canned and fully cooked proteins diet. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
