Dear TLC Brits Family,
As many of you already know, I am planning to move later this summer. What only some of you know is that we've been having some health challenges with Kittens in the Cattery. The proliferation of the mutating coronavirus that causes FIP is one part of this. I know I am not the only Cattery or Rescue being affected by this, but it's important to address it in the best way I know how.
The most important thing is that if anybody has a kitten that they have brought home in the last 6 months, PLEASE observe your kitten carefullyevery day and if even for a day, she/he shows any of the FIP symptoms listed below, please text me immediately!
As FCoV has been spreading, FIP is becoming more common and requires a very specific set of treatment guidelines. The first step is injections which vets legally cannot advise you to do as only oral meds are currently FDA APPROVED. This is why you need to contact me immediately so that I can get you in touch with FIP WARRIORS who can connect you with the necessary medicine. These medicines are used globally, just not here in the US.
This is much more common now than FIV/FELV so please watch out for the symptoms. I will contact you directly if a kitten in your litter has been diagnosed with FIP. Please let me know if you have any questions😺
The following litters have a kitten with FIP:
Litter BB: Cinder (Joker MC X Marsha)
(Litter CC: Sage adopted with Cinder (Nina x Luther)
Litter HH: Hugh/Juicebox (Micha x Luther)
Luther, Marsha, Nina and Micha will retire or have been retired already.
it is crucial you contact me immediately if your kitten has any symptoms. Please review my post from May 30, 2025.
REPOST FROM 5/30/25
Hello TLC Brits Family,
I just want to give everyone a reminder that I am available for advice 24/7. Please contact me about any concerns at all and before you take your kitty to the vet. I am here to support the health of your kitten even when they are in YOUR home.
FIP REMINDER/WARNING!!!
This is very important, so please note that if your kitten displays any of the symptoms, especially two or three out of the symptoms below (even for 1 day) contact me immediately! An hour or a day of delay could be crucial in saving their life.
Do not go to the vet without talking to me first! They are not able to treat Kittens aggressively for FIP and will give you a less effective treatment and very unnecessary expensive testing which could result in your kitten dying.
